After breakfast, begin a comprehensive city tour exploring the most important landmarks of Vientiane.
Your first stop is Wat Sisaket, the oldest surviving temple in the city, built in 1818. Renowned for its unique Siamese-style architecture, the temple houses thousands of Buddha images—crafted from wood, stone, silver, and bronze—representing diverse artistic influences from across Asia.
Continue to Wat Prakeo, once the royal temple of the Lao monarchy. Built in 1565, it formerly enshrined the Emerald Buddha. Today, it showcases an impressive collection of Buddhist sculptures, including a rare Dvaravati-style stone Buddha dating from the 6th–9th centuries.
Next, visit the iconic That Luang Stupa, the most sacred monument in Laos and a powerful national symbol. This magnificent golden stupa, originally covered in gold leaf, is believed to house relics of the Buddha. Its image is so significant that it appears on the national emblem of Laos.
In the late afternoon or early evening, admire the grand Patuxay Monument, an imposing arch inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, yet decorated with traditional Lao motifs. From here, enjoy views of the city as the light softens and Vientiane transitions into evening.
